June 2008 Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, June 24th, 2008, 6:30 pm
In attendance were: Club President (and Vice-president-elect) Diana Davis, Vice President Chris Gallo, Secretary Barbara Shaffner, Harvest/Sanctions Chair (and President-elect) Joyce Glorioso, Webmaster Elizabeth Bainger, Al Bainger and (Secretary-elect) Suzie Fitzgerald.
The first item discussed this evening was the August 2nd club Lock-in at Skate Frederick. Lisa Williams has generously offered the rink facilities to the club from 8pm to 8am for the flat fee of $500. As with last year's very successful event, this year volunteers are pursuing having organized games and activities on the ice as well as off ice, including pizza and an ice cream sundae station, makeovers, nail painting, video games (DDR etc.), and a baby photo contest, door prizes, etc.
The next item discussed was memberships for the upcoming year. The deadline for club renewals was this date, June 24, in order to have memberships processed by July 1 with USFS. Mention was made of the new USFS-mandated rules concerning skating coaches for any USFS club-sponsored activities. Officers will research USFS information to determine how any club activity applications should be worded concerning these changes for coaches. Elizabeth Bainger mentioned researching the feasibility of having on-line registrations for club events, primarily the security for on-line information regarding applicants, including any costs to the club.
Next Harvest Chair Joyce Glorioso provided a form for Harvest Committee chairpeople to sign up for this year's competition in November.
